Sharing Stories

Taking time to share the stories we or others have recorded can bring strength to our self, our families, and our communities. If we think about it, there are so many ways to share. Here are a few ideas.

  • On a holiday or special event, share stories that follow the same theme. ie. Tell about an ancestors Christmas story at Christmas, or share stories of a relative who was a veteran stories on Memorial day or July 4th.

  • Retell as story in your own words at bedtime

  • Share a story around the dinner table

  • Review a personal history and make a scavenger hunt for young children

  • Select a few stories for the childhood of an ancestor and make a kids book. You may need to do a little editing to make it consistent, but try to preserve their words.

  • Pool with relatives to print a complication of histories that

  • Write some clues and do a guessing game

  • Post an excerpt from a story that is meaningful to you and why on social media

  • Invite family members to each share a story at family home evening or another social gathering

  • Look for natural opportunities where stories can help empathize or provide encouragement

  • Look at pictures together and share stories about those in the pictures
